Now, by no means and I saying this is a terrible thing! Actually, I feel that it can be beneficial in meeting your goals. What I would like to bring to your attention is when the syndrome has gone too far!
Superwoman syndrome is characterized as a women who feels the need to excel in all of her multiple roles! You want to be the best mom, the best wife, the best employee, the best congregation member, the best aunt, the best daughter, the best sister.....just the best at everything! An you want to be the BEST all. the. time!
Sometimes, its just not possible! Over time, the thought that you have to be perfect at everything, every second of the day is going to cause stress. You are going to put yourself at the bottom of the list and your needs will never get met. Things may start off great but slowly you will start to lose sleep, become irritable, and your self confidence will plummet when you are not able to fulfill the irrational demands you've put upon yourself! I beg of you....DON'T DO THAT TO YOURSELF!
There are common themes behind the Superwoman Syndrome such as: an inability to say no, the feeling of needing to do it all, the need for attention, or low self-esteem. Also, you could be so used to "doing it all" that you just keep doing that! STOP!!!
